Medical marijuana treatment centers are extremely lacking in south Florida and so patients will gladly welcome a Fort Lauderdale outlet. Liberty Health Sciences is pending some final approvals but is planing a store just south of E. Commercial Blvd on U.S. 1.
While the northern portion of Florida has picked up many medical marijuana treatment center outlets, the central and southern portion of the state is greatly lacking outlets because cities and counties continually ban them citing zoning conflicts or issues concerning values as their reasons. Many south Florida patients rely upon delivery services to attain their medical marijuana, which incurs an extra fee. The Fort Lauderdale location will allow more patients to walk into a store rather than just look at an online menu so that they can understand better their variety of choices and actually have a sales person to consult with.
Liberty Health Sciences also offered to donate 10% of its revenue for the next two months to help with the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma. Certainly, Fort Lauderdale and other south Florida cities welcome businesses that are in-tuned with the specific challenges the state faces and are willing to aid local communities.
Liberty Health Sciences, one of a dozen licensed medical marijuana cultivators and distributors in Florida, announced Monday that it plans to open a retail outlet in Fort Lauderdale.
The shop, which is subject to government approvals, is to be located across the street from Holy Cross Hospital at 4500 N. Federal Hwy.
Medical marijuana retail outlets offer delivery devices like vaporizer pens and medications, such as tinctures, to card-carrying medical marijuana patients in the state. They do not sell to the general public and must first be approved by the Florida Department of Health’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use and local government before they open.
So far, few exist in South Florida.
“Liberty has expanded its delivery offering to service South Florida, ensuring patients in the region have convenient access to its high-quality, clean and safe pharmaceutical grade medical cannabis,” the company said in a press release.
The company also announced that it is opening a shop in The Villages in Central Florida.
